Student Claims $500 Scholarship During Basketball Game

The Texas A&M University-Commerce athletic department had its first winner of a $500 scholarship at half-time of the Lions’ men's basketball game against Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday, February 13th.

The winner, Paige Vincent (pictured with athletic director Carlton Cooper), had her name called during half-time of the men’s basketball game and reported to the University's promotions table before the two-minute deadline expired. Vincent is a freshman from Carrolton, Texas.

Names will continue to be drawn at half-time of the men’s and women’s games for the remainder of the season. Names are randomly drawn from a list of A&M-Commerce students, and any individual whose name is called has two minutes to claim his or her prize.

A maximum of four winners are announced each night.
