Lions Participate in Commencement Exercises

Five Texas A&M
University-Commerce student athletes - Luis Lujan,
JaMichael Palmer and Garnet Smith
from football as well as Cheryl Canavan and
Tamara Geels from soccer participated in
undergraduate commencement exercises on Saturday at the
A&M-Commerce Field House. In addition, student athletic trainer
Taryn Moore earned her bachelor's degree in
athletic training.
Lujan and Smith were both two-year members of the Lions football
team, graduated with their bachelor's degrees in criminal justice
and sociology, respectively. Palmer, a four-year member of
the Lions football team, graduated with his bachelor's degree
in business administration.
Canavan, who was a three-year member of the Lions soccer team,
graduated with her bachelor's degree in kinesiology and Geels, a
four-year member of the soccer team, earned her degree in
kinesiology.
In addition, former Lions standouts Tarika
Campbell and Kayla Hanzelka earned their
master degrees. Campbell, who played for the Lions women's
basketball team for the last three years and Hanzelka was a
standout on the Lions volleyball team from 2001 to 2004 earned
their master of business administration degrees.
