Top Moment No. 3: Football Secures Winning Season

The 2013-14 A&M-Commerce athletic season was filled with a handful of incredible moments, achievements and career milestones. Throughout the summer Lion Athletics will take a look back at the top 15 moments of the year, voted on by athletic administrators and local media members.

The win over HBU gives the Lions football team their first winning season since 2001.
The Lions erupted for 545 yards of offense, including 474 through the air in a 55-21 win at Houston Baptist on Nov. 9, notching the program's first win over a Division I FCS opponent and clinching the Lions' first winning season in over a decade.

Harrison Stewart completed 23 of his 40 passes on the day, throwing for 383 yards and five scores. Three of those scores went to junior receiver Seth Smith, who finished with six catches for 115 yards.

Junior receiver Vernon Johnson also continued to etch his name into program history, catching 10 passes for 180 yards. Those marks made him the A&M-Commerce all-time leader in both receiving yards and receptions. One week later he would set the single-season touchdown catch mark for the Lions, hauling in his 13th TD of the year at home vs Eastern New Mexico.
