Men Finish Fourth; Women Finish Fifth at LSC Championships

On the final day of the Lone Star Conference Championships, the Texas A&M University-Commerce men's track and field team got three runner-up finishes from junior Brad Dotson in the 400-meter dash in a time of 48.24 and Herron Love in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.98. In addition, junior Lyndon Wyse was second in the triple jump with a leap of 48-8 ¼.

Finishing fourth for the men for the Lions was the 4x400-meter relay (3:19.62) and junior Leslie White in the javelin (182-1).

Junior Tyler Tyndell was fifth in the 5,000-meter run (15:32.74) and A&M-Commerce also got points from sophomore Robert Reed in the 1,500-meter run (3:59.60), Jeff Rayome in the shot put (50-10), the 4x100-meter relay (42.68).

The men finished fourth with 54 points behind Abilene Christian (290), Tarleton State (125), Angelo State (102).

On the women's side, junior Katie Barthold in the 200-meter dash (25.99) and junior Sunny Henderson in the javelin throw (128-6). In the 4x100-meter relay (48.42) and in the 4x400-meter relay, the Lions were fifth (4:03.73).

A&M-Commerce placed three in the shot put including Taylor Smith, who was third with a toss of 38-9 ½. La'Shara Jefferson and Britney Fisher was fifth (38-2 ¾) and sixth (36-9), respectively.

Three more Lions scored points in the team race with sixth-place finishes including Alycea Wallace in the 100-meter dash (12.48), Leslea Traylor in the 400-meter hurdles (1:13.44) and freshman Kate Donovan in the 3,000-meter run (11:48.23).

The women finished fifth with 40 points behind Abilene Christian (259), Angelo State (223), Tarleton State (95) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (41).
