Men's Cross Country Team Moves Up to No. 7 in Latest USTFCCCA South Central Regional Poll.

On the strength of a third-place
performance at the Lone Star Conference Cross Country
Championships, the Texas A&M University-Commerce men's cross
country team moved up to No. 7 in the latest U.S.
Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South
Central Regional poll.
The Lions had three runners - Tyler Tyndell,
Cody Hughes and Robert Reed -
earn all-Lone Star Conference honors for their top 10 finish.
Tyndell, who earned his second-straight all-LSC recognition,
finished fourth overall in a time of 23:45. Hughes, who was making
his LSC Championship debut, was seventh in 24:27 and Reed finished
eighth in 24:34. The trio were joined by the 19th-place finish
(25:31) of junior Gerardo Delafunete and
40th-place performance (27:00) of sophomore Brandon
Womack in the 7,700-meter race.
Abilene Christian, who won the team title at the LSC Championships,
remains the top team in the region and No. 2 nationally.
Also ahead of the Lions are Southwest Baptist (No. 2 in the
region and No. 23 nationally), Pittsburg State (No. 3 in the region
and No. 17 nationally), Missouri Southern State (No. 4), Fort Hays
State (No. 5) and Tarleton State (No. 6). The Texans edged the
Lions by one point at the LSC Championshps.
The next meet for A&M-Commerce is the NCAA South Central
Regional meet on Nov. 8 at the University of Incarnate Word, where
the Lions won the UIW Invitational on Sept. 27.
