Tyler Tyndell Earns All-Region Honors at NCAA South Central Regional Meet

Senior Tyler Tyndell earned all-region honors with a 12th-place finish at the 2009 NCAA South Central Regional meet on Saturday in Abilene, Texas.

Tyndell covered the 10k course in 31:57.74 to lead the Texas A&M University-Commerce to a 14th-place finish. Junior Brandon Womack was the second Lions runner to cross the line, as he was 51st with a time of 33:33.21. Behind him was junior Gerardo Delafuente, who finished 78th in a time of 34:30.73, sophomore Nathan White was 97th in 35:23.05, senior Logan Kelly was 115th in 36:57.30 and freshman Ross Hicks was 118th in 37:31.44.

Missouri Southern landed five runners in the top 15 to win the team title. Amos Sang of host Abilene Christian won the individual race by 1:04 over his closest competitor.

On the women’s side, junior Kate Donovan led the team to a 17th-place finish with an 84th-place performance in a time of 24:42.88.

Behind Donovan for the Lions was freshman Jennifer Speer, who finished 123rd overall in 26:26.18. Next, sophomore Gaby Tetrick was 131st in a time of 27:29.32, sophomore Emily Gibson was 135th (29:32.05) and sophomore Jamie Hays was 136th (31:01.19).

Missouri Southern also won the women’s team title with the top three finishers including Kimi Shank, who crossed the line for a 20-second victory over her teammate in 20:59.05.
