Texas A&M University-Commerce to Host 2010 Lone Star Conference SAAC Retreat
Texas A&M University-Commerce will
be host to the 2010 Lone Star Conference Student-Athlete Advisory
Committee (SAAC) Retreat, starting on Sunday, July 25th thru
Tuesday, July 27th.
Student-athlete representatives from each member institution will
participate in the annual event. The three-day event is intended to
help improve communication amongst the conference SAAC groups and
to help energize student-athletes with ideas and “best
practices” to be implemented during the upcoming academic
year.
The focus of this year’s retreat will be “Lone Star
leaders: Leaving Our Mark.” A&M-Commerce Associate
Athletic Director for Academic Affairs and SAAC advisor Judy
Sackfield has been busy planning this annual retreat in
collaboration with other components of the A&M-Commerce
campus.
While at A&M-Commerce, the student-athlete representatives
will visit the new ropes course on the A&M-Commerce campus and
a leadership workshop hosted by the university’s Center for
Applied Leadership.
A&M-Commerce Athletic Director Carlton
Cooper looks forward to having the student-athlete
representatives and their advisors on the campus. “I am
thrilled that Texas A&M University-Commerce will host the 2010
Lone Star Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Retreat.
This is an outstanding way to showcase our institution to our
fellow conference institutions and to give the student-athletes
participating a wonderful experience to grow as leaders and to take
the skills learned back to their respective campuses.”
