63 LIONS NAMED TO 2012 LSC COMMISSIONER'S HONOR ROLL
RICHARDSON, Texas -- The 2012 Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll has been announced by the league office as 63 A&M-Commerce student-athletes were among those recognized for their success both in the classroom as well as on the playing field.
A total of 856 student-athletes were recognized across all 11 Lone Star Conference school as in order to be eligible, they must have a minimum 3.30 GPA for the 2011-12 academic year and be active on their respective team rosters.
In addition, 100 student-athletes were given special recognition for concluding the academic year with a perfect 4.00 grade point average, 11 of which were Lion student-athletes, putting A&M-Commerce third among all LSC schools. Those 11 Lions were Andrew Davis and Taylor Phelps of men's basketball, Stephen Ford of football, Derek Rucki of men's golf, Sara Diaz of women's golf, Callie Annett, Devon Herrman, Jordan McCarty and Brionna Minde of soccer and Alex Kimp and Hank Smith of men's track and field/cross country.
Women's soccer led the way with 13 honorees, which is fitting as they were recognized as the A&M-Commerce program with the highest cumulative GPA for the 2011-12 season. Football checked in at second with 12 selections followed by men's track and field/cross country with eight and volleyball with seven.
The 63 Lion student-athletes is up from the 54 that received the honor in 2010-11. This is the second year the honor has been given following the spring academic term with student-athletes qualfiying based on the grade point average for the year. Previously, the honorees qualified by cumulative GPA and were announced by sport at the end of each respective season.

Athletic Training (4): Jennifer Justice, Candade Kirksey, Clarissa Wilburn and Jessica Wilson.
Men's Basketball (4): Esteban Arriola, Andrew Davis, Desmond King and Taylor Phelps.
Women's Basketball (3): Sarah Blair, Apreia Booker and Devin Oliver.
Football (12): Adorian Arthur, Jordan Betz, Matthew Claggett, Stephen Ford, Marcus Fore, Taylor Fore, Yogi Gallegos, Brandyn Hinnrichs, Hayden Marsh, Blake Ohm, Steven Thompson and Chase Thrasher.
Men's Golf (5): Jarret Martin, Kyle Middleton, Brent Reagan, Derek Rucki and Marcus Sanna.
Women's Golf (3): Sara Diaz, Haley Green and Holly Jenkins.
Soccer (13): Cadie Annett, Callie Annett, Jade Bell, Randi Hafele, Devon Herrman, Taylor Hunt, Samantha Huston, Kamille Johnson, Jordan McCarty, Brionna Minde, Stephanie Neeley, Brittani Ong and Evan Stanberry.
Men's Track and Field/Cross Country (8): Ronald Balthazar, Tyler Hemenway, Ross Hicks, Alex Kimp, Austin Kvapil, Albert Sinegal, Raman Singh and Hank Smith.
Women's Track and Field/Cross Country (4): Caroline Cotsakis, Brooke Farris, Taniqua Hawkins and Jakesia King.
Volleyball (7): Kayla Bond, Ciara Holmes, Morgan Moeller, Haley Richburg, Chelsea Simonton, Breanne Snyder and Melanie Williams.
