COMMERCE, Texas -- Women's basketball tips off the 2011-12 Top 15 Moments countdown as the Lions' season-ending 64-61 victory over Angelo State checks in at Moment #15. The victory capped what had been a challenging season for A&M-Commerce and gave head coach Nicole Anderson and her young Lion squad a huge boost of confidence heading into 2012-13.

Facing a tough Rambelle team, which entered the game fifth in the Lone Star Conference standings, A&M-Commerce matched Angelo State point-for-point in the early going before putting together an 11-0 run spanning five minutes, breaking out to a commanding 23-13 lead off a three-pointer from Devin Oliver with 2:41 remaining in the half.

But Angelo State showed its resiliency, matching the Lions with an 11-0 run to close out the half and take a 24-23 lead into halftime despite five points and six rebounds from Breanna Harris.

The Lions and Rambelles played pretty even through the first 10 minutes of the second half as Angelo State slowly built an eight-point lead at 45-37 with 10:16 remaining and looked to be taking control of the game.

But with emotions running high in the season finale, A&M-Commerce had a point to make for the future. Once again, the Lions found their groove, putting together a 10-0 run to reclaim the lead at 47-45 with just under eight minutes remaining in the season.

That set up what proved to be arguably the most intense eight minutes of A&M-Commerce's season as the Lions and Rambelles combined for five ties and four lead changes down the stretch, leading up to a 61-61 tie with one minute remaining.

After a pair of Rambelle free throws, the Lions brought the ball down court looking to take the lead with the ball ending up in the hands of guard Danielle Dixon, who hit the biggest three pointer of the season with 39 seconds remaining, giving the Lions the 64-61 lead. The Lion defense then came up big, thwarting Angelo State's final three attempts to tie the game to close out the game with the upset victory.

Harris finished the game with her 10th double-double of the season, recording 19 points and 10 rebounds, including eight offensive. Freshman La'Tisha Hearne rounded out her impressive A&M-Commerce debut with 12 points and five boards while Dixon finished with nine points and six rebounds for the Lions.

The victory for A&M-Commerce snapped a 21-game losing streak and ended the Lions' 45-game Lone Star Conference skid, but more importantly for this young Lion team, it gave an added boost of confidence heading into 2012-13. A&M-Commerce returns five of its six leading scorers and top-three rebounders as the Lions look to make their mark on the conference.
