COMMERCE, Texas -- It is an exciting day for fans of Texas A&M University-Commerce athletics as today the athletic department unveiled its exciting new look for LionAthletics.com, as well as announced the Lions' new place in the social networking world, launching sites on both Facebook and Twitter.
"It really is an exciting day for Lion Athletics, one that has been a long time coming," said Athletic Director Carlton Cooper. "The new website, as well as being a part of Facebook and Twitter, is an essential avenue for us to continue to reach out and stay in contact with our constituents, alumni and fans. The exciting thing is that in our eyes, its just the beginning. Our goal is to use these as the first step in reconnecting with Lion family."
LionAthletics.com is powered by PrestoSports and was built with an added emphasis on video, live stats and more interactive features in mind. The new site gives fans a cleaner, fresher look at all 11 Lion athletic programs, with more advancements on the way to help keep fans up to date with A&M-Commerce athletics wherever they are.
One of the main focuses of the new website was to integrate key social media components, with a link in the upper right hand corner to allow fans to go to the Lions' new Facebook and Twitter accounts. It provides another avenue for the Lion faithful to keep in close contact with the latest in A&M-Commerce news and events, and provides a valuable avenue to provide their feedback as well.
"Our goal in this process was that we wanted to have something ready to go before the 2011-12 season began, and I think our fans and alumni will really like the new look," said Cooper.
