Sammy Jackson Named Lone Star Conference North Division Player of the Week

Texas A&M University-Commerce junior forward Sammy Jackson (Arlington, Texas/Jacksonville College) was named the Lone Star Conference North Division Player of the Week on Monday.

Jackson earned the weekly honor as he averaged a double double with 14.5 points and 11 rebounds in the Lions' two wins over Eastern New Mexico (Jan. 8, 73-64) and West Texas A&M (Jan. 10, 78-72). He registered his first double double in the win over the Greyhounds, scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds in the win. 10 of his rebounds came on the defensive end and he also knocked down his sixth three-pointer of the season. Against West Texas A&M, he was one of three Lions in double figures with 15 points, while he was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards.

Jackson is the third-different player from A&M-Commerce to earn the honor from the LSC, joining DeUndrae Spraggins (Jan. 6) and Cardell Hunter (Dec. 1). The three selections by the Lions are the most in the LSC North Division.

The Lions have now won five of their last six games as they head into the start of Lone Star Conference North Division play against pre-season conference favorite Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
