Cardell Hunter Named Lone Star Conference North Division Player of the Week


Cardell Hunter sets up the A&M-Commerce offense in the Lions' 85-67 win.

Texas A&M University-Commerce junior guard Cardell Hunter was named the Lone Star Conference North Division Player of the Week on Monday.

Hunter and the A&M-Commerce Lions defeated No. 7 Central Oklahoma, 96-79, last Wednesday. In the game, Hunter scored a team-high 20 points, recorded six steals and four assists in 36 minutes of action in the win over the nationally-ranked Bronchos. It was the fourth win over a ranked team for A&M-Commerce in 2008-09.  

He followed up that performance with a 16 points, six rebounds and four assists in a 71-68 loss to Northeastern State in the regular season finale.  

It is the second weekly honor for the Dallas, Texas native.

Hunter and A&M-Commerce will next take part in the Lone Star Conference Tournament on Thursday at 6 p.m. against Texas A&M-Kingsville in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
