Spraggins earns first-team all-LSC and Newcomer of the Year honors

Texas A&M University-Commerce senior guard DeUndrae Spraggins was selected First-Team All-Lone Star Conference and Newcomer of the Year by the LSC in a banquet on Tuesday night in Bartlesville, Okla.

“They’re good honors, but individual success comes from team success,” said Spraggins. “So in my eyes we won it as a team. We want a championship and we haven’t got it yet, so there is still work to be done.”

Spraggins leads A&M-Commerce with 17.3 points per game and has been named LSC North Division Player of the Week twice this season.

Central Oklahoma’s Lance Harper was selected player of year, and Northeastern State’s Jason Jones, Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Kenneth White and Cameron’s Dave Smith joined Spraggins and Harper on the first team.

Freshman guard Brad Hambrick has made an impression in his first season with the Lions and notched LSC North Division Freshman of the Year honors for his efforts. Hambrick is averaging 9.7 points per contest and is shooting 40.3 percent from beyond the arc.

Senior forward Rashad Brown also earned LSC North Division honorable mention recognition after leading the Lions with 7.6 rebounds per game. He is pouring in 7.9 points per outing on 58.7 percent shooting from the field, which is fourth best in the conference.

A&M-Commerce will return to the court on Thursday against Texas A&M-Kingsville at 6 p.m. at the Bruin Field House in Bartlesville, Okla.
