Lions Picked to Share Second Place With SWOSU in LSC North Division Preseason Poll

The Texas A&M
University-Commerce men’s basketball team finished in a tie
for second with Southwestern Oklahoma State in the Lone Star
Conference North Division preseason poll announced on
Wednesday.
Central Oklahoma earned the most votes in the poll and is picked to
finish first by LSC head coaches, sports information directors and
media representatives. Northeastern State followed in fourth, East
Central finished sixth and Southeastern Oklahoma State and Cameron
rounded out the division.
On the South Division side, the pre-season favorite was Tarleton
State ahead of West Texas A&M, Abilene Christian, Texas
A&M-Kingsville, Angelo State, Midwestern State and Eastern New
Mexico.
A&M-Commerce returns three players and will feature 10
newcomers on a team that earned its way to the LSC tournament
championship game last season.
“We’re really excited about our group,” said
Lions head basketball coach Sam Walker.
“We’ve been extremely encouraged by their work ethic
this year.”
The Lions begin practice on Oct. 15, and will open the season
against St. Edward’s on Nov. 15 at 8 p.m.
