Lions fall to UCO, 80-61, in LSC North opener

A 27-4 run that spanned over 10:24 in the second half helped the No. 4 Central Oklahoma Bronchos run past the Texas A&M University-Commerce Lions, 80-61, on Wednesday night in Edmond, Okla.
The Lions drop to 9-7 overall and 0-1 in Lone Star Conference North play, while the Bronchos improve to 14-2 and 1-0. UCO also extended its home winning streak to 22 straight games.
A&M-Commerce shot just 39.3 percent in the first half, but took a 40-39 lead into the break with the help of 11 points from DeUndrae Spraggins, who was 8-of-8 from the free throw line.
Brad Hambrick and Sammy Jackson each hit 3’s to extend the Lions’ lead to seven to start the second, but Sosanya dropped in a layup with 17:28 remaining to charge the Bronchos’ run.
Spraggins and Jackson each led A&M-Commerce with 11 points apiece. Hambrick chipped in 10 and Rashad Brown totaled nine points and 10 rebounds.
David Thomas scored 20 points, Michael Sosanya fired in 19, Eric Cazenave scored 12 and Lance Harper ended with 11 to pace the Bronchos.
The Lions return to action on Saturday against Northeastern State at 4 p.m. at the A&M-Commerce Field House.
