DeUndrae Spraggins Records Double Double in 74-53 Win Over Southern Arkansas
A 23-6 run to start the game led the Texas A&M University-Commerce men's basketball team to a 74-53 win over Southern Arkansas on Tuesday night at the A&M-Commerce Field House.
The Lions (4-3) were led by senior DeUndrae Spraggins, who had his first double double, with a game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds in the win. He was joined in double digits by Cardell Hunter, who had his seventh-consecutive double digit scoring effort, with 11 points and Ronnie Morgan nearly missed his first double double with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Southern Arkansas (4-4) was led by David Noble, who scored 13 for the Muleriders in the loss. He was joined in double figures by Channin Harden, who added 10.
The Lions spread the scoring around six-different players in the game-opening run. After the margin grew to 14-4 on a Brad Hambrick dunk at the 13:47 mark of the opening half, the lead remained double digits for the remainder of the contest and the closest SAU would get was within 13 points.
The Lions went into the halftime break with 42-19 lead over SAU, including a decisive 17-0 advantage on points from the bench. In the opening stanza, the Muleriders committed 12 of their 22 turnovers and were held to 32.1% shooting from the field.
A&M-Commerce raised its record to 4-0 when they score 70-plus points. The Lions grabbed a season-high 22 offensive rebounds and had a season-high 16 assists on 24 field goals in the win.
Next on the schedule for the Lions is a contest on Saturday night at 9 against a Texas A&M-Kingsville squad that is 5-3 overall.
