Lions Men's Basketball Earns LSC Recognition
Three members of the Texas A&M University-Commerce men's basketball team earned all-Lone Star Conference North Division honors and another picked up LSC North Division Freshman of the Year recognition.
Senior Ronnie Morgan was named first team all-Lone Star Conference North Division and senior Cardell Hunter and junior Brian Singleton picked up second team honors. Preston Whitley was named the Lone Star Conference North Division Freshman of the Year. It is the second-straight year that a player from A&M-Commerce has received the honor. Whitley is only the sixth player in school history, joining Brad Hambrick (2008-09), Erik Pinter (1992-93), Bennett Fields (1985-86), Nate Granger (1973-74) and O'Neal Tarrant (1972-73).
The four of them and their teammates will be back in action on Wednesday night at 6 pm when they take on Tarleton State in the quarterfinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. All the action can be heard live on KETR (88.9 FM/www.ketr.org).
The awards announcement came Tuesday night at a pre-championship banquet in Bartlesville, Okla., where the LSC Basketball Championship tournament is set to begin on Wednesday. Quarterfinal games will be played all day Wednesday, with semifinal games slated for Friday evening and the championship game on Saturday at 7 p.m.
