LIONS UNVEIL 2011-12 MEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE

Complete 2011-12 A&M-Commerce Men's Basketball Schedule

COMMERCE, Texas – Texas A&M University-Commerce head men’s basketball coach Sam Walker today announced the Lions' 2011-12 schedule. A&M-Commerce will play a total of 26 games for the regular season schedule in 2011, including 18 Lone Star Conference contests as well as 11 games at the Field House.

“I’m extremely excited for this season and I know our guys are ready to start playing,” said Walker. “We added some talented newcomers to balance out our core group of experienced veterans who can help us reach our goal. We have most of our returners coming back, and they are hungry for a true conference championship.”

The Lions will start the season with four games on the road starting November 17th at 7:00 p.m. against Southern Arkansas. A&M-Commerce’s first home game of the season will be a challenge right out of the gates as the Lions open up conference play hosting reigning LSC tournament champion Midwestern State on Wednesday, Nov. 30 in a rematch of last year’s conference quarterfinal matchup.

The Lions will hit the road for two games against the always tough Cameron and Incarnate Word. Incarnate Word was ranked number 9 in the nation last year when the Lions handed them their first loss of the season, 94-74.

A&M-Commerce will return to the Field House for a two game home stand first playing against Drury on December 10th at 7:00 p.m. They will then meet Southern Arkansas at the Field House on Dec. 13th at 7:00 p.m. After the two game home stand they will take to the road all the way to January 7th.

The Lions will then get into the meat off their season facing off against Eastern New Mexico on January 7th and Abilene Christian January 11th at the Field House. The Lions will continue to battle a small series on the road against Angelo State on January 14th then back to the Field House for a game with Tarleton State on January 18th.

A&M Commerce will close out January facing one of their toughest Lone Star Conference rivals Cameron at the Field House on January 28th. They will lead off February facing always difficult Incarnate Word on February 1st.

They will take to the road to meet the Javelinas in Kingsville, Texas on February 5th. Commerce will then come home to face Texas A&M-Kingsville at the Field House on February 6th. After a nine day break West Texas A&M will make a long trip to Commerce, Texas to face off against the Lions on February 15th at 8:00 p.m.

After a short road trip scheduled from February 18th against Eastern New Mexico and then Abilene Christian on February 22nd, the Lions will look to finish out their regular season against Angelo State at the Field House on February 25th.

“The Lone Star Conference will definitely be more exciting due to having the opportunities to play teams at their home courts,” said Head Coach Sam Walker. “We did not have the opportunities to play big teams at home last year, and we are excited to get the chance to challenge them both home and away this year.”
