ANDREW DAVIS NAMED TO CAPITAL ONE ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM

COMMERCE, Texas -- A&M-Commerce senior forward Andrew Davis has been named to the Capital One Academic Division II All-District VI team for the second-straight year, announced today by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A third team Academic All-American in 2011-12, Davis once again has emerged as one of the top players in the Lone Star Conference both on the court as well as in the classroom. He currently leads the LSC in defensive rebounds per game (5.2) while sitting fourth in rebounds per game (7.1), fifth in field goal percentage (57.5%) and 11th in offensive rebounds per game (1.9).

The 2011-12 Lone Star Conference Men's Basketball Academic Player of the Year, Davis has played in all 19 games with 16 starts on the season. He leads the Lions in each rebounding category while ranking fourth on the team in points per game (9.0) as well as blocks (7).

He is one of two Lone Star Conference players to be named to the All-District team, being joined by Incarnate Word's Dionelle Rucker. The team was voted on by Sports Information Directors around the region as Davis now becomes eligible for the Academic All-America team, which will be announced later this month.
