Three Lions Earn All-Region Honors

Football honors continue to come in for Texas A&M University-Commerce with three players being named to the 2008 Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-Super Region Four Team.

Earning first team all-region honors was senior defensive lineman Ricky Hope, who has also been an All-American selection by Daktronics and the Associated Press. On the second team was junior offensive lineman R.J. Brisbon and junior punter Juan Velasco was a third team selection.

This marks the seventh year that Don Hansen's Football Gazette has selected NCAA Division II All-Region teams.  The national publication, an authority on small college football, has selected NCAA Division II All-America teams since 1988.

The first-team and second-team All-Region selections advance to a national ballot from which the 2008 NCAA Division II Football Gazette All-America team will be named later this month.

A total of 98 players earned some form of Football Gazette All-Super Region Four honors. Players from 27 of the 31 football-playing schools in Super Region Four earned All-Super Region Four accolades.
