Darron Sheppard Takes Part in 2009 Cactus Bowl

Texas A&M University-Commerce senior offensive lineman Darron Sheppard took part in the 2009 Cactus Bowl on Friday night.

Sheppard, a two-time first team all-Lone Star Conference North Division selection, played along the offensive line for the West squad that edged the East squad by a 28-27 margin. The Longview, Texas native arrived in Kingsville for the week long of events, starting on Saturday, January 3rd.

On Sunday, January 4th, the players were put through rigorous sessions and testing in front of professional scouts and their first team meetings. Intense practices and team meetings began on Monday and continued throughout the week until the contest on Friday night.

Sheppard joins former Lions that have participated in the game are Darrell Bayer, Derrick Crawford, James Epps, J.D. Hearn, Corey Homer, Kevin Mathis, Paul Simmons and Jared Williams.
