Ricky Hope Named Co-LSC North Division Defensive Player of the Week

Texas A&M University-Commerce senior defensive lineman Ricky Hope (picture by Vladimir Cherry) was named the co-Lone Star Conference North Division Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The Poulan, Georgia native became the school¹s single-season record holder in sacks with his ninth sack of the 2008 campaign against Southeastern Oklahoma. He had his second multi-sack game of the season and forced three fumbles in the loss to the Savage Storm. One of the forced fumbles was picked up by Chad Washington, who subsequently fumbled again before teammate A.J. Johnson picked it up and ran it into the end zone for a Lions¹ touchdown. Three of his four tackles were for minus yardage.

Hope and the Lions will close out the season on Saturday at 2 pm at Memorial Stadium against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
