Multiple Lions Earn All-LSC Recognition

Nine members of the Texas A&M University-Commerce football team were selected first team all-Lone Star Conference North Division announced by league officials on Friday.

Three members of the Lions offense and six on defense plus the Receiver of the Year senior Willie Thornton, co-Offensive Lineman of the Year junior R.J. Brisbon and Defensive Lineman of the Year senior Ricky Hope.

Joining Brisbon and Thornton on the first team from the offensive side of the ball was senior center Darron Sheppard. On the defensive side of the ball, in addition to Hope was junior defensive tackle William Green, senior linebackers Andrew Gamboa and Chad Washington as well as safety Courtney Edmond. Junior Juan Velasco was selected first team as a punter.

With the nine selections, Texas A&M University-Commerce has had 286 first team selections in school history. For Sheppard, it is his second time earning first team recognition and he becomes the 17th player in school history to earn multiple first team honors.

Three Lions were selected to the second team including senior quarterback Terry Mayo, junior corner back Kurt Rossum and junior Alex Contreras and receiving honorable mention recognition were senior Danny Stark and senior Elliot Jones.
