Cory Whitfield Named LSC North Division Defensive Player of the Week

Texas A&M University-Commerce junior linebacker Cory Whitfield earned his second Lone Star Conference North Division Defensive Player of the Week honor on Monday.

The Palestine, Texas native had his fifth straight game with double-digit tackles and ran back a fumble 25 yards for his second touchdown of the season in the 27-12 win over Northeastern State on Saturday.

Whitfield and the Lions will host No. 7 Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday at 2 pm at Memorial Stadium for the annual homecoming and Chennault Cup contest.
