A&M-COMMERCE 2011 FOOTBALL SEASON RECAP
A&M-Commerce closed out the 2011 season with a 1-9 overall mark and 1-7 in Lone Star Conference play. The Lions finished out the season tied for eighth in the final LSC standings with Eastern New Mexico, one game back of both Angelo State and Incarnate Word for sixth.

WHITFIELD NAMED DAKTRONICS SECOND TEAM ALL-REGION SELECTION
A&M-Commerce senior linebacker Cory Whitfield has been named a Daktronics second team All-Super Region Four selection, announced today by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

FORE, WHITFIELD RECEIVE POSTSEASON ALL-LONE STAR CONFERENCE HONORS
A&M-Commerce senior wide receiver Taylor Fore and senior linebacker Cory Whitfield both received All-Lone Star Conference postseason honors, announced today by the conference office. Whitfield was named a first team All-Lone Star Conference selection while Fore was named the conference's Academic Player of the Year, as well as being an honorable mention selection.

A&M-COMMERCE ROUTED BY WEST TEXAS A&M, 49-0, IN 2011 SEASON FINALE
The 2011 A&M-Commerce football season came to a disappointing close Saturday afternoon as the Lions were held off the scoreboard, dropping a 49-0 decision to West Texas A&M at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.

FORE BROTHERS NAMED TO CAPITAL ONE ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM
A&M-Commerce senior wide receiver Taylor Fore and sophomore defensive back Marcus Fore have both been named to the Capital One Academic All-District IV team, announced today by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

GRAHAM EXPLODES ON SENIOR NIGHT AS LIONS DOWN GREYHOUNDS 60-28
Running back Marcus Graham posted a career-high 152 yards on 16 carries with two touchdowns and J.J. Harp welcomed his old team to Commerce, completing 24-of-34 passes for 343 yards and three touchdowns as A&M-Commerce routs Eastern New Mexico 60-28 for its first win of the year.

Texas A&M University-Commerce plays its final home game of the 2011 season, hosting Eastern New Mexico at 6 p.m. Saturday, November 5. The game also marks the final home game for 10 Lion seniors, who will be recognized prior to the game.

A&M-Commerce spotted 19th-ranked Abilene Christian an early 30-point lead, and the deficit proved to be too great to overcome as the Lions drop a 40-28 decision to the Wildcats at Shotwell Stadium.

A&M-Commerce heads back on the road this week, traveling to Abilene for a 2 p.m. showdown Saturday with 19th-ranked Abilene Christian.

An energetic and spirited Homecoming crowd could do little to spur on A&M-Commerce as the Lions dig themselves an early 35-0 hole and could never recover, falling to Angelo State 45-14 at Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon.

A&M-Commerce returns to Memorial Stadium this Saturday, October 22, hosting Angelo State at 2 p.m. The game against the Rams marks the Lions’ 2011 homecoming game as both the Lions and Rams enter the weekend seeking their first Lone Star Conference victories.

SECOND HALF MISCUES DOOM LIONS IN 54-27 LOSS AT TARLETON STATE
A&M-Commerce trailed Tarleton State by just six points at the half, but a handful of second half miscues did in the Lions as they drop a 54-27 decision to the Texans at Tarleton Memorial Stadium in Stephenville.

A&M-Commerce begins the second half of the 2011 season, traveling to Stephenville to face Tarleton State at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 15. The Lions are still seeking their first win of the 2011 season while the Texans have lost two-straight Lone Star Conference games.

LIONS OVERCOME EARLY DEFICIT, BUT CARDINALS ESCAPE WITH 23-22 VICTORY
After falling behind by 20 points early in the second quarter, A&M-Commerce roared back to take a 22-20 lead early in the fourth quarter. But Incarnate Word punches through a late field goal, handing the Lions a 23-22 loss at Memorial Stadium Saturday evening.

A&M-Commerce hits the road, traveling to deep South Texas for a showdown with Texas A&M-Kingsville in the annual Chennault Cup game at 7 p.m. Saturday, October 1. The Lions and Javelinas both enter the game in search of their first Lone Star Conference victory of the season.

Texas A&M University-Commerce finally begins the home portion of its 2011 schedule,stepping out of conference play to host Ouachita Baptist on a rare Thursday night game on September 22nd. Opening kick between the Lions and Tigers is set for 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.

A&M-COMMERCE DROPS 63-17 DECISION TO MIDWESTERN STATE AT COWBOYS STADIUM
Texas A&M University-Commerce drew first blood in the 2011 Harvey Martin Classic at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, but Midwestern State dominated for the remainder of the game as the Mustangs hand the Lions a 63-17 defeat at the Lone Star Football Festival.

Former East Texas State All-American and Super Bowl champion Alan Veingrad will be the featured speaker at the 2011 Harvey Martin Classic Kickoff Reception on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m. in the Sam Rayburn Student Center.

A slow start and costly miscues proved to be too much for A&M-Commerce as the Lions fell to Upper Iowa 15-14 in the 2011 season opener at Eb Eischeid Stadium.

The official kickoff to the 2011 football season is now in the books as the 2011 Lone Star Conference Football Media Day is in the books. All nine LSC football schools were in attendance, with A&M-Commerce being well represented by head coach Guy Morriss and senior running back Marcus Graham.
