A&M-COMMERCE HITS THE FIELD FOR FIRST SPRING PRACTICE OF 2012

COMMERCE, Texas -- A&M-Commerce hit the field at Memorial Stadium for the first time Monday evening, donning helmets and shorts for the first spring practice of the 2012 campaign. It marked the first glances of a handful of new Lions looking to make their roster spots once the season rolls around for good in September.

The Lions will practice each night for the next three weeks beginning at 6:30 p.m., leading up to the 2012 Spring Game at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21. The first two weeks will focus on individual positions, leading up to near-scrimmages later in camp. Media members wishing to attend practice need to coordinate with Rand Champion in the A&M-Commerce Media Relations office.

A&M-Commerce is gearing up for a challenging 2012 campaign, which includes the program's first-ever contest against a Division I FBS program when it takes on UT-San Antonio at the Alamodome on September 8. The schedule also includes another date at Cowboys Stadium when A&M-Commerce faces reigning Lone Star Conference champion Midwestern State on September 14 and five home contests, including LSC opponents Texas A&M-Kingsville, Tarleton State, Abilene Christian and West Texas A&M.

Season ticket information will be available soon as questions about the upcoming Lion football season can be directed to the A&M-Commerce ticket office at (903) 886-5558.
