COMMERCE, Texas – A&M-Commerce senior linebacker Danny Mason has been invited to play in the 2013 Texas vs. The Nation game on Saturday, February 2nd at Eagle Stadium in Allen, Texas. Mason will be playing on the Texas roster as the game pits players either from the state of Texas or who played for a Lone Star state school against those from the rest of the nation.

It is another well-deserved accolade for Mason, who capped his impressive A&M-Commerce career this past season. Mason finished the year as the LSC's leading tackler, recording 115 stops and averaging 11.5 tackles per game, and ranking third nationally in both categories. He also notched 11.5 tackles for loss and four sacks in 2012, both career-bests. Mason, a four year letterwinner and three year starter for A&M-Commerce, closed his career with 280 tackles, which ranks third all-time in program history since defensive statistics began being recorded in the early 1990s.

Mason has already garnered his fair share of accolades, being named the Lone Star Conference's Linebacker of the Year, as well as a first team All-LSC selection, making him the eighth linebacker in program history to become a two-time first team All-LSC honoree. He was tabbed a second team All-American by Beyond Sports Network and was a first team Daktronics All-Region selection.

Mason will suit up with some of the top seniors in the country in 2012, including Baylor quarterback Nick Florence, Oklahoma wide receiver Justin Brown and Northwestern linebacker David Nwabuisi. There will also be some familiar faces on the Texas roster with Mason as he is one of five Lone Star Conference players participating, including Abilene Christian quarterback Mitchell Gale and West Texas A&M running back Khiry Robinson.

Now in its fifth year, the Texas vs. The Nation has become one of the premiere collegiate senior all-star games with players from Division I FBS, FCS and Division II suiting up and showcasing their skills in front of dozens of professional coaches and scouts. The game has provided a great avenue to gain exposure as over 300 players who participated in the event have signed NFL contracts.

This year's game will be played at the brand new multi-million dollar Allen ISD Eagle Stadium on Saturday, February 2, kicking off at 1:30 p.m. and televised by Fox Sports. Tickets for the game are $25 for reserved seating and $18 for general admission and can be ordered online at TexasvsTheNation.com.
