Doug Dennie is in his first season as an assistant coach with the A&M-Commerce football team, overseeing the Lion running backs.
Dennie comes to Commerce after spending the past two seasons at Lon Morris College, serving as the offensive line coach. The Bearcats rushed for over 2,200 yards in 2011, averaging 227 yards per game and 5.2 yards per carry. Prior to his time in Jacksonville, Dennie spent two seasons as an offensive intern for the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
Dennie got his start in coaching at Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, Alaska, coaching both the offensive and defensive lines. Under his guidance, four players attained all-conference honors with one being deemed all-state as three student-athletes earned collegiate scholarships.
Prior to his time as a football coach, Dennie spent 11 years in the U.S. Army, serving as an infantry squad leader.
Dennie graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in history and a minor in political science. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in sport management from the United States Sports Academy.
