Danny Jun Leads A&M-Commerce Men's Golf to 12th-Place Finish at the Grand Canyon University Thunderbird Invitational

Texas A&M University-Commerce senior Danny Jun (pictured) shot an even par 72 in the final round of the Grand Canyon University Thunderbird Invitational to lead the Lions to a 12th-place finish.

Jun finished the tournament with a 54-hole total of 216 (73-71-72) to tie for 21st-place honors.  The Langley, British Columbia native had two eagles to lead the field and was one of the top players with his six-under par play on par 5 holes.

Senior teammate Eric Westerman tied for 40th after posting a 221(73-71-77), junior Dustin Gideon shared 63rd-place honors after a 228 (73-77-78).

Freshman T.J. McColl shot a two-over par 74 on Tuesday to finish with a 234 (78-82-74) to finish 77th and to round out the A&M-Commerce lineup. Freshman Tyler Duffy withdrew in the final round after posting identical rounds of 74 in Monday’s opening 36 holes.

As a team, the Lions posted an 887 (293-293-301) and Cal State-Stanislaus edged Chico State for the team title by two strokes with an 846 (278-281-287). Joseph Stewart of Cal State-Stanislaus won the individual title with a nine under par 207 (69-70-68) for a two-stroke victory.

The next tournament for the Lions is the Kickingbird Golf Classic in Edmond, Oklahoma, hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma on April 4-6.
