Danny Jun Leads A&M-Commerce at Charles Coody West Texas Intercollegiate

Texas A&M University-Commerce senior men's golfer Danny Jun shared seventh-place honors after Tuesday’s final round at the Charles Coody West Texas Intercollegiate. The senior from Langley, British Columbia had nine birdies in 36 holes of golf to lead the Lions and posted a 36-hole total of 140 (69-71) to finish two under. It was his best finish since a second-place performance in the Lion Triangular on April 2, 2008.

The Lions finished 10th out of the 15-team field with a 587 (299-288) with Newman winning the team title in a playoff with a 570 (289-281). ACU's Adam Carpenter won the individual title on the fourth playoff hole.

A&M-Commerce senior Eric Westerman (pictured) shot a career-best round of 69 in Tuesday's final round to share 20th-place honors. For the Victoria, Texas native it was a six-stroke improvement from Monday's opening round. 

Junior Dustin Gideon also made a five-stroke improvement as he shot a 72 on Tuesday to finish tied for 45th with a 149 (77-72). Newcomers junior Jay Pickens and freshman Darren Whitehouse, tied for 62nd and tied for 64th, respectively. Pickens shot a 155 (78-77) and Whitehouse posted a 156 (80-76). As a medalist, freshman T.J. McColl tied for 45th with Gideon after shooting a 149, including a 70 in Tuesday's final round.

The Lions will return to action at the Territory Golf Classic in Duncan, Oklahoma, hosted by Cameron University, Sept. 20-22.
