Westerman Leads Lions to Eighth-Place Finish at the Texoma Championship
Senior Eric Westerman led the Texas A&M University-Commerce men’s golf team to an eighth-place finish in the Texoma Championship on Tuesday.
The final round was delayed due to rain and the final round got underway at 10:30 a.m.
Westerman shot an 18-over par 234 (83-71-80) to finish tied for 22nd to lead the Lions. Junior Dustin Gideon and freshman Darren Whitehouse joined him in the top 30. Gideon tied for 27th after posting a 237(79-81-77) and Whitehouse tied for 30th after posting a 238 (82-76-80).
Whitehouse was the top player in the field with two under play on par 3 holes and he also recorded eight birdies over the course of the 54-hole tournament.
Freshmen Tyler Duffy and T.J. McColl were 37th and 42nd, respectively. Duffy shot a 240 (77-83-80), including a team-best 31 pars on the 54 holes and McColl posted a 243 (79-81-83).
Northwood took the team title by seven strokes over LSC member Cameron with a total of 892 (289-292-311) as well as Lucas Bogdan captured the individual title with an 11-under 205 (67-69-69) for a 15-stroke victory.
The tournament wraps up the fall schedule for the Lions, who will begin the spring portion of its schedule when they host the Pepsi Crawford/Wade Invitational in Pottsboro on Feb. 28.
