Freshman Chris Leasor Shoots Final Round 67 to Lead A&M-Commerce Men's Golf Team at Bruce Williams Memorial Invitational

Freshman Chris Leasor closed out the fall season with a five-under 67 and his first career hole-in-one in Tuesday's final round of the Bruce Williams Memorial Invitational to lead the Texas A&M University-Commerce men's golf team to an 11th-place finish. 

The Lions, who moved up two places from Monday's opening round on the strength of the 12-stroke improvement by Leasor and an 11-stroke improvement by fellow freshman Aaron Cockerill.

Leasor closed out the tournament 11-over 227 (81-79-67) to finish tied for 28th overall. In addition to his ace in the final round, he also recorded six birdies. Cockerill shot a final round 1-over 73 for a 54-hole total of 232 (75-84-73) to finish tied for 41st.

Freshman John Moug shot a final round 79 for a 54-hole total of 236 (81-79-76). Freshman Patrick Russo posted a final round 76 with an eagle for a three-stroke improvement on his second round on Monday. He ended up tied for 55th with a 236 and senior Dustin Gideon shot a final round 81 and 54-hole total of 239 (78-80-81).  As an individual, freshman Randy Appling shot a 54-hole total of 253 (85-85-83). 

Colby Shrum of Central Oklahoma and Alex Carpenter of Abilene Christian shared the individual title with a four-under, 212. Central Oklahoma edged Abilene Christian by five strokes for the team title.


The tournament wraps up the fall schedule for A&M-Commerce.
