MOMENT #13: PAIR OF LION GOLFERS CAPTURE INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENT TITLES
Our #13 moment of the A&M-Commerce athletic season takes us out to the links where a pair of Lion golfers took home individual tournament titles during the 2011-12 season. It highlighted a successful season for the men’s squad, which compiled four top-10 individual and five top-10 team finishes on the year.

A&M-COMMERCE 2011-12 MEN'S GOLF SEASON RECAP
A&M-Commerce concluded the 2011-12 season with five top-10 team finishes, capped by a fifth-place showing at the 2012 Lone Star Conference Championships on April 16-17 at Trophy Club, Texas. The Lions finished among the top-five three times, including a runner-up finish at the California Baptist Spring Break Collegiate April 2-3.

A&M-COMMERCE CLOSES OUT LSC CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH FIFTH-PLACE SHOWING
A&M-Commerce closed out the final round of the 2012 Firestone Lone Star Conference Championships right where it started, placing fifth in the final event of the 2011-12 season. The Lions posted a 13-over 301 over the final 18 holes, closing out the 54-hole tournament with a 30-over 894.

A&M-COMMERCE SITS FIFTH AFTER DAY ONE AT LSC CHAMPIONSHIPS
A&M-closed out the opening two rounds in fifth place at the 2012 Firestone Lone Star Conference Championships Monday, shooting a 17-over 593 at the Whitworth Course. A&M-Commerce enters Tuesday’s final round one stroke back of fourth-place West Texas A&M (16-over 592).

For the second consecutive week, A&M-Commerce is home to the Lone Star Conference Golfer of the Week, with sophomore Patrick Russo notching the weekly honor after tying for fourth overall at the Dallas Baptist Classic.

RUSSO TIES FOR FOURTH OVERALL AT DALLAS BAPTIST CLASSIC
A&M-Commerce sophomore Patrick Russo wrapped up his impressive performance at the 2012 Dallas Baptist Classic, closing out round three with an even-par 70 to compile a three-round score of 2-under 208, tying for fourth in the individual standings.

RUSSO'S FOUR-UNDER 66 LEADS LIONS AT DALLAS BAPTIST CLASSIC
A&M-Commerce sophomore Patrick Russo highlighted the afternoon for the Lions at the Dallas Baptist Classic, firing a career-low 4-under 66 in round two and currently sits tied for eighth in the individual standings with a 2-under 138. A&M-Commerce enters Tuesday’s final round 15 th out of a challenging 18 team field following two rounds below 300, including a season-low 9-over 289 in round two.

Coming off the first individual title of his collegiate career, A&M-Commerce freshman Marcus Sanna has been named the Lone Star Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, announced today by league officials.

MARCUS SANNA CAPTURES SPRING BREAK COLLEGIATE INDIVIDUAL TITLE
Freshman Marcus Sanna posted a career day over the final round of the 2012 California Baptist Spring Break Collegiate, shooting a career-best 4-under 67 as he captures the individual title at Primm Valley Golf Club. Sanna led the A&M-Commerce charge as the Lions finish second among the nine-team field with a 25-over 593.

GRIMM, LIONS SIT FIRST AFTER ROUND ONE OF SPRING BREAK COLLEGIATE
Despite battling ferocious winds all afternoon, A&M-Commerce finds itself in first place after the opening 18 holes of the California Baptist Spring Break Collegiate at Primm Valley Golf Club. The Lions shot a 13-over 297, led by freshman Cade Grimm's career-low 1-under 70.

A&M-COMMERCE FINISHES 17TH AT MIDWESTERN STATE INVITATIONAL
After enduring heavy storms that washed out the first two rounds of the Midwestern State Invitational, A&M-Commerce had a sluggish performance on Tuesday, shooting a 32-over 316 over the final round at the Wichita Falls Country Club, finishing 17 th out of 19 teams.

FIRST TWO ROUNDS OF MIDWESTERN STATE INVITATIONAL RAINED OUT
Heavy rains in the Wichita Falls area caused the first two rounds of the 2012 Midwestern State Invitational to be rained out Monday afternoon. The tournament will be shortened to a one-round, 18 hole tournament, getting underway with a shotgun start Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. With possible heavy storms again in the forecast for Tuesday, stay tuned to LionAthletics.com for the latest updates.

A&M-COMMERCE WRAPS UP COMPETITION AT ST. EDWARD'S INVITATIONAL
A&M-Commerce closed out the final round of the St. Edward's Invitational right where it started, finishing 17th with a 114-over 978, including a 39-over 327 over the final 18 holes at the Grey Rock Golf Club.

A&M-COMMERCE STRUGGLES ON FIRST DAY OF ST. EDWARD'S INVITATIONAL
A&M-Commerce struggled over the opening two rounds of the St. Edward’s Invitational, compiling a 75-over 651 to sit 17th out of the 17-team field at the Grey Rock Golf Club. The Lions got off to a rocky start, shooting a 45-over 333 in round one, but recovered a bit in round two, shaving 15 strokes to notch a 30-over 318.

MARCUS SANNA LEADS LIONS TO A SIXTH PLACE FINISH IN POTTSBORO
Tuesday marked the end of the Texacoma Chevy Dealers Intercollegiate Tournament. The Lions had a much better day fighting off the rough weather and shooting an impressive 12-over 300. This moved the Lions into 6th place beating out Southeastern Oklahoma State and Southern Arkansas who they were tied with yesterday; A&M-Commerce would also pull in front of Incarnate Word who was ahead by a single stroke yesterday.

LIONS TIED FOR EIGHTH AFTER DAY ONE OF CRAWFORD WADE INTERCOLLEGIATE
A&M-Commerce hosted their first event of the season, the Crawford-Wade Intercollegiate, at the Tanglewood Resort. This is the only home tournament for the men’s golf team in the spring season. The Lions had a solid outing this afternoon missing a few shots but for the most part hanging in their being separated by 12 strokes for a 5th-place finish.

LIONS SET TO HOST 2012 CRAWFORD WADE INTERCOLLEGIATE IN POTTSBORO
Following a winter hiatus, the A&M-Commerce men's golf team returns to the links, hosting its annual Crawford Wade Intercollegiate at the Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro on February 27-28. 14 teams will compete in the event as the Lions look to defend their 2011 team title.

LIONS ANNOUNCE A PAIR OF GOLF ADDITIONS FOR 2012
Texas A&M University-Commerce head golf coach Louie Bledsoe today announced two additions to the Lion golf program. Brent Reagan joins the men’s team and will start competing this spring for A&M-Commerce while Ali Leasor has committed to playing for the Lion women beginning in the fall of 2012.

Chris Leasor had a round to remember, posting a 7-under 29 over the back nine holes at the Tribute Golf Club en route to a career-low 7-under 65 over the final round of the 2011 Lion Invitational.

After opening up the 2011 Brian Williams Memorial Invitational with a 25-over 313, A&M-Commerce shaves 14 strokes off that total over the second round, posting an 11-over 299 in round two and sit in ninth place.

LIONS BREAK 300 IN FINAL ROUND OF 2011 DORNICK HILLS CLASSIC
Paced by a 1-over 71 by freshman Marcus Sanna, A&M-Commerce finished up the final round of the Dornick Hills Classic right where it started – in 12th place among the team standings. The Lions shoot their second sub-300 round of the season, posting a 19-over 299 over the final round to finish with an 85-over 925 at the 2011 Dornick Hills Classic.

A&M-Commerce returned to the links Monday, competing in the 2011 Dornick Hills Classic at the Dornick Hills Country Club in Ardmore, Okla. The Lions post a two-round total of 66-over 626 and sits 12th out of the 13 team field heading into Tuesday’s final round.
