ABILENE, Texas -- Patrick Russo highlighted the final round of the Charles Coody West Texas Intercollegiate for A&M-Commerce, firing a career-best 2-under 69 to jump 36 spots in the individual standings, finishing tied for 23rd overall.

Russo, who posted a 6-over 77 in round one, was hitting all afternoon for the Lions as his 69 was the fourth-lowest score of the final round. He closes out the two-day tournament tied for 23rd overall with a 4-over 146 after entering Tuesday's final round tied for 59th in the individual standings. His 69 bests his previous career-low of 70 set last spring at the Midwestern State Invitational.

Chris Leasor bounced back from a rocky start in round one to post a 1-over 72 over the final 18 holes, closing out the tournament with a 9-over 151. He finished six strokes better than teammate John Moug's 15-over 157 after Moug shot a 5-over 76 in Tuesday's final round.

Freshmen Jarret Martin and Derek Rucki closed out their first collegiate tournaments with a 16-over 158 and a 26-over 168, respectively. Martin posted a 6-over 77 in the final round, giving him a new career-low.

The Lions regrouped after struggling in round one, combining to shoot a 10-over 294 over the final round, shaving 24 shots off its opening round total of 318. A&M-Commerce finished six strokes back of Harding (38-over 606) and seven back of St. Mary's (37-over 605) in the final team standings.

Central Oklahoma used a final round 2-under 282 to capture the team title with an impressive 5-under 563, holding off host Abilene Christian (1-under 567) by four strokes. Our Lady of the Lake (3-over 571) placed third with a trio of Lone Star Conference schools in West Texas A&M (7-over 575), Midwestern State (9-over 577) and Cameron (10-over 578) rounding out the top-six.

A&M-Commerce will be back on the course this coming week, traveling to Ardmore, Okla. to compete in the Dornick Hills Classic at Dornick Hills Country Club Sept. 19 and 20.
