2012-13 A&M-Commerce Men's Golf Roster
COMMERCE, Texas – Texas A&M University-Commerce has today announced its 2012 men's golf fall schedule as the Lions will compete in five events in the fall portion of the slate, leading up to another home tournament at The Colony in early November.
A&M-Commerce opens up the 2012 fall schedule with a short trip to Paris where the Lions will send a J.V. team to compete in the Paris Junior College Invitational at the Paris Golf and Country Club September 16th and 17th.
Head coach Louie Bledsoe's main five will begin their 2012-13 campaign at the Territory Fall Classic, hosted by Cameron on September 23rd and 24th at the Territory Golf Club in Duncan, Oklahoma.
The Lions will make a return trip to the Sooner State the following weekend, heading across the Red River to Durant, Oklahoma for the Texoma Championships on October 1st and 2nd at Chickasha Pointe Golf Club. Southeastern Oklahoma State will serve as the host institution for that tournament as A&M-Commerce last played in the event in 2010, finishing sixth with a 67-over 931.
A&M-Commerce will then return to the Ryan Palmer Invitational, hosted by West Texas A&M at the Tascosa Country Club in Amarillo October 8th and 9th. The Lions last played in the tournament in 2010 as well, placing seventh with a 41-over 893 including a pair of sub-300 rounds.
The highlight of the A&M-Commerce fall season will take place November 5th and 6th as the Lions will once again host a tournament at the Tribute Golf Club in The Colony, hosting the Classic at the Tribute. Last season the Lions hosted the Lion Fall Invitational at the Tribute as junior Chris Leasor won the individual title with a 10-under 134, including a career-best 7-under 65 in round two. A&M-Commerce placed fifth in their fall home tournament with an 8-over 584, shooting a pair of sub-300 rounds.
A&M-Commerce should continue to establish itself as an emerging team in the Lone Star Conference as the Lions return every golfer from the 2011-12 roster, including junior Patrick Russo and sophomore Marcus Sanna who both claimed LSC Golfer of the Week honors last season with Sanna being recognized as an honorable mention All-LSC selection. Add to the mix a handful of underclassmen who saw significant playing time and some strong newcomers and the Lions look to make their move in 2012-13.
The spring portion of A&M-Commerce's 2012-13 schedule will be released later this fall.
