POTTSBORO, Texas – Despite a delayed start and a cold and windy afternoon, A&M-Commerce had a solid performance, posting a 12-over 300 through the shortened opening round of the 2013 Texoma Chevy Dealers Crawford Wade Intercollegiate at Tanglewood Resort. The Lions' B-team also competed among the 15-team field, placing 14th with a 42-over 330.

Three players sit among the individual top-20 through 18 holes, paced by C.J. Clem sitting tied for seventh after posting an even-par 72 through the opening round, including a 2-under 34 through the front nine. Cade Grimm is tied for 12th with a 2-over 74 while Kason Childress is one shot back at 3-over 75, sitting tied for 14th overall.

Freshman Seth Maxwell sits fourth following his opening round 7-over 79 with Marcus Sanna rounding out the "A" team with an 8-over 80.

For the Lions' "B" team, Brent Reagan led the way with a 6-over 78, four strokes better than Jarret Martin and Kyle Middleton's 10-over 82. John Moug (16-over 88) and Yogi Gallegos (22-over 94) rounded out the scorecard.

Originally scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday, a decision was made to cut the opening round to just 18 following some heavy storms that moved through the Red River valley early Monday morning. While the storms weren't as heavy as expected, they did bring some heavy winds and much cooler temperatures which made the opening round quite a challenge.

St. Mary's had little trouble, however, as the Rattlers finished with an even-par 288 and hold a nine-stroke advantage over second-place Fort Lewis College (9-over 297) heading into Tuesday's final round. Reigning champion Arkansas-Fort Smith sits third (10-over 298), two shots ahead of A&M-Commerce with East Central (14-over 302) and Harding (15-over 303) compiling a handful of teams jockeying for position over the final 18 holes.

Tuesday's final round looks to be even colder as temperatures are expected to be in the low 30s by the time play begins at 9 a.m. and warming up just into the low 50s. A&M-Commerce's "A" team will play with the Tigers and Bison in the final round pairings while the "B" squad will play with Arkansas-Monticello and Oklahoma Panhandle State. Full results will be posted at LionAthletics.com as they become available.
