Former Lion golfer Megan Benites returns to the course representing A&M-Commerce as she is in her first season as a graduate assistant coach for the A&M-Commerce golf programs.

Benites was a four-year contributor to the women’s golf team, appearing in 59 tournaments during her time at A&M-Commerce and posting a scoring average of 86.93. Benites finished in the top-30 of the individual standings four times during her career, highlighted by a 16th-place finish at the 2008 Lone Star Conference Championships.

Benites was also a stand-out in the classroom for A&M-Commerce, earning National Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar honors in 2011. She was also a two-time Lone Star Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll recipient.

A native of Austin, Benites earned her bachelor’s degree in business in 2012 and is currently pursuing her master’s degree at A&M-Commerce.
