Lyndon Wyse and Jeff Rayome Record NCAA Provisonal Marks at UTA Bobby Lane Track and Field Invitational
Windy conditions and temperatures in the 30's challenged the Texas A&M University-Commerce track and field team on Saturday at the UTA Bobby Lane Track and Field Invitational in Arlington.
Seniors Lyndon Wyse and Jeff Rayome posted NCAA provisional marks in the triple jump and in the shot put. The mark by Wyse, who had already posted a provisional marks in the Lions' last meet, improved by two inches en route to a third-place finish with a jump of 48-0 3/4. Rayome finished second in the shot put with a throw of 52-3 3/4.
Sophomore Brandon Womack was third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:46.23), setting a season-best by 20 seconds. Senior Dean Laing was seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (14.91) and in the pole vault (11-5 3/4).
Senior Leslie White was sixth in the high jump (6-2 3/4) and teammate Josh Conder was ninth with a clearance of 6-0 3/4.
In addition to Wyse in the triple jump, freshman Kyle Weaver was eighth in the triple jump (43-7). Also picking up an eighth-place finish was Wyse in the long jump with a leap of 22-5 1/4.
The Lions' 4x100-meter relay team of Desmond Randle, Cody Bolton, Chad Washington and Leonard Jackson was fourth in a time of 43.43 and the 4x400-meter relay team of Cairo Thornton, Jackson, Randle and Brad Dotson was fifth in a time of 3:22.48.
The men's team posted 16 season-best marks including freshman Ronald Balthazar was 23rd in the 800-meter run (2:03.64). Balthazar lowered his season-best time by a little under five seconds. Another freshman Cody Hughes posted a PR in the 5,000-meter run by almost 30 seconds in a ninth-place finish (15:17.90). Teammates Gerardo Delafuente (16:09.25), Logan Kelly (16:37.20) and Ray Moreno (18:07.22) also established season-best performances.
On the women's side, in the 3,000-meter run, sophomore Kate Donovan was fourth (11:40.49) and freshman Gaby Greer was seventh (13:08.99). Junior Sunny Henderson was sixth in the javelin with a throw of 110-4.
The Lions' women recorded eight season-best performances including senior Alycea Wallace in the 100-meter dash (13.01) and in the 200-meter (27.67). Sophomore Dena Hawkins improved her season best in the triple jump by six inches with a leap of 33-6 1/2 and sophomore Erica Anderson in the discus by 10 inches with a throw of 111-0. Jamie Hays lowered her season-best time in the 1,500-meter run by just under five seconds in a time of 6:19.60.

the McMurry Relays on Thursday and for five Lions -
juniors Cody Bolton, Sunny Henderson and La'Shara
Jefferson as well as seniors
Chad Washington and Leslie White, they will compete
in the prestigious Texas Relays on Friday.
