Lions Post 26 Season-Best Marks at 2009 David Noble Relays

At the site of the 2009 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Texas A&M University-Commerce men's and women's track and field teams set 26 season-best marks on Thursday at the David Noble Relays in San Angelo.

Senior Lyndon Wyse won the triple jump with a season-best and school record leap of 49-5 3/4, which is an NCAA provisional mark and the sixth-best to date in Division II. He also improved on his season-best mark in the long jump in a third-place performance with a leap of 22-9 3/4 for an improvement by four inches for the Dorsey, California native.

The Lions had an additional third-place finish as senior Alycea Wallace set a season-best time of 12.66 in the prelims of the 100-meter dash. She crossed the line third in the finals in a time of 12.76.

In addition, A&M-Commerce picked up seven fourth-place finishes at the meet. Two of them included senior Leonard Jackson (pictured) posted a season-best time of 10.94 in the 100-meter dash and he was also a member of the 4x100-meter relay that set a season-best mark with a time of 43.03. The Lions' men's 4x400-meter relay team (3:18.01), freshman Kyle Weaver in the high jump (6-4) and triple jump (44-5 1/2), junior La'Shara Jefferson in the discus (146-10) and shot put (39-1) and senior Leslie White in the javelin (151-2).

Freshman Demetrius Holmes was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles and seventh in the 110-meter hurdles. Finishing sixth was senior Dean Laing in the javelin with a season-best toss of 148-11 and sophomore Makesha Brewer in the 200-meter dash (26.88) and in the 400-meter dash in a season-best time of 1:01.81.

The next meet for the Lions is the prestigious Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco on Saturday, April 18th.
