Cody Hughes Named Co-Lone Star Conference Track Athlete of the Week

Freshman Cody Hughes was named the Lone Star Conference Co-Men’s Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.

The rookie from Anna, Texas took second place honors at last week’s Mean Green Twilight in the 3,000-meter run. He crossed the line in a time of 8:49.60 behind TCU’s Louie Tijerna. The two both eclipsed the four-year old record at Fouts Field in the process.

Hughes and the Lions’ track and field team will return to action at the Lone Star Conference Championships that gets underway on Thursday with the heptathlon/decathlon.
