Lyndon Wyse Earns All-American Honors in Triple Jump at NCAA Championships
Senior Lyndon Wyse earned All-American honors with a seventh-place finish in the triple jump on Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Cerritos, California native rose from ninth place to seventh place finish on his final jump with a leap of 49-0 1/4.
The Lions were also represented by juniors Sunny Henderson in the women's javelin and La'Shara Jefferson in the women's discus as well as senior Leslie White in the men's javelin.
Henderson was 11th with a throw of 135-3 and Jefferson, who was making her second-straight NCAA Championship appearance in the discus, finished 11th with a throw of 136-5. For Jefferson, it was an improvement of six places from her sophomore season.
White finished 15th with a
throw of 190-10 wraps up his career with the school record with a
throw of 202-9 from earlier this year in the Lion Quadrangular. In
addition, Wyse also set a school record in the triple jump, earlier
this year with a leap of 49-5 ¾ at the David Noble
Relays.
