Prior to A&M-Commerce: Was the salutatorian of his graduating class at Sulphur Bluff High School...competed in the state track and field meet as a senior in both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter run, finishing third in the latter and fourth in the former...finished second at regionals his senior year in both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter run...also competed in the state meet in the 3,200-meter run his junior year...finished second in the 3,200-meter run and fourth in the 1,600-meter run at regionals his junior year.
