Weaver Second in the Decathlon after Day One at the David Noble Relays
Texas A&M University-Commerce sophomore Kyle Weaver is in second place after day one of the decathlon at the 38th Annual David Noble Relays, hosted by Angelo State with 3,333 points.
Weaver started the two-day,
ten-event decathlon with a time of 11.96 in the 100-meter dash. He
went on to lead the field with his leap of 21-8 in the long jump
and pick up 720 points.
In his third event, he recorded a toss of 33-4 ¾ in the shot put and closed out the day with a clearance of 6-5 in the high jump. His clearance matched first day leader Stormy Smothers for the best in the nine-person field. He closed out the day with a time of 52.79 in the 400-meter dash.
Weaver and the field will wrap up
competition on Friday and he trails Smothers by 108 points with the
110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and the 1,500-meter
run left on the schedule.
