Womack Smashes Another PR at Shortened Baylor Meet

The Texas A&M University-Commerce men’s track and field team participated at the Michael Johnson Classic, hosted by Baylor University in Waco, Texas on Saturday.  The meet was postponed numerous times throughout the day before eventually being canceled due to inclement weather.

For the second week in a row, junior Brandon Womack (pictured) smashed a personal record – this time in the 1,500-meter run.  Womack finished second in the collegiate/small university division of the event in a time of 3:57.28, bettering his previous personal best by three seconds.

Sophomore Demetrius Holmes placed 12th in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.85.  Holmes was the third overall NCAA Division II competitor in the event.  In the 400-meter hurdles, Holmes finished 18th (fifth among Division II competitors) in a time of 57.41

In the 800-meter run, senior Gerardo DelaFuente set a new personal best with a time of 2:02.01, placing him 33rd in the 49-person field.  The time placed him ninth among Division II competitors.  Additionally, senior Anthony Valle set a season-best time of 22.93 in the 200-meter dash, placing 38th in the 62-person field.

The Lions next compete in the Arkansas Twilight in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on April 30.
