BRANDON WOMACK NAMED USTFCCCA 2011 DIVISION II TRACK AND FIELD ALL-ACADEMIC HONOREE

COMMERCE, Texas -- Former Lion distance runner Brandon Womack was honored by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, being named as an All-Academic honoree. Womack was one of 162 athletes recognized by the USTFCCCA.

It is another accolade to add to Womack's already impressive resume, as he was also named to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic team and was a Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District VI first team selection. Womack recently graduated with honors with a degree in kinesiology, boasting a GPA above 3.80.

He was the Lions' top 800 meter runner, posting four of the top-five times on the year for A&M-Commerce, including a runner-up finish at the LSC Championships. Womack finished among the top-three in six races this season, including a pair of first-place finishes at the McMurray Invitational and North Texas Mean Green Twilight and runner-up showings at the Bobby Lane Invitational and Michael Johnson Invitational.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark in an individual or relay event at some point in either indoor or outdoor seasons.
