Marc Randle Classic Final Results

BULLARD, Texas -- A&M-Commerce continued its strong showing in the 2012 track and field season as 19 different Lions notched top-five showings in 11 different event at the UT-Tyler Marc Randle Classic held at the Brookhill School in Bullard.

Three different Lions recorded first-place finishes in their respective events, with Ernest Rickett taking the top spot in the 400 meter dash (48.16), Hank Smith placing first in the 400 meter hurdles (56.16) and Khalil Henry taking the high jump (1.98 meters).

Henry was joined in the high jump by Devontrius Farmer, who placed fifth with a jump of 1.78 meters. Farmer also placed fifth in the triple jump (12.67 meters), behind third-place Ravi Dubose's leap of 13.60 meters. Anthony Harris also recorded a top-five finish for the jumpers, placing fourth in the long jump (6.45 meters). Daniel Dia also had a solid day for the A&M-Commerce throwers, placing third in both the discus (45.59 meters) and shot put, recording a career-best in the shot with a hurl of 13.28 meters.

A&M-Commerce had another successful showing among its sprinters, led by Dubose who placed fifth in both the 100 meter (11.16) and 200 meter dashes (22.20). John David Rollins matched Dubose's time in the 100 meter (11.16), while James Lundy placed fifth in the 110 meter hurdles (16.43).

The Lions best showing of the afternoon was in the 400 meter dash where four Lions placed among the top five finishers in the event. Ernest Rickett finished first in the event (48.16) with Elijah Burwell placing third (49.54), Albert Sinegal finishing fourth (49.64) and Chris Douglas checking in at fifth (51.46).

A&M-Commerce's distance runners also made their mark as Joel Day placed fourth in the 800 meter run (1:59.54), two seconds ahead of Kevin Garcia (2:01.56) who checked in at fifth. In the 1500 meter run, Isaac Chelimo placed second with a time of 4:06.31.

The Lions now prepare for a pair of prestigious meets coming up next weekend. Some of the Lions will head to Walnut, Calif., competing in the Mt. SAC Relays April 20-21. The remainder of the team will make the trip down to Waco, competing in the Michael Johnson Invitational hosted by Baylor.
