COMMERCE, Texas -- The 2013 A&M-Commerce track and field season gets underway this weekend as the Lions will take to the track at Memorial Stadium, hosting the Lion Spring Invitational. Field events kick off the day, getting underway at 10 a.m., followed by the running events beginning at 12:30 p.m.

This marks the second-straight season that the Lions will open up the season at home as seven regional teams will converge on Commerce. A&M-Commerce goes head-to-head with Huston-Tillotson, Jarvis Christian, McMurry, Southwest Christian, Texas Wesleyan, University of Dallas and UT-Tyler, getting an early look of the talent on the Lion roster.

The field events begin at 10 a.m. as the shot put and javelin get underway at the Cain Sports Complex with the long jump and pole vault starting at Memorial Stadium. The women's triple jump gets underway at 11:30 a.m., followed by the high jump and hammer throws at noon. The discus is the last field event of the day, going off at 1:30 p.m.

The running events kick off at 12:30 p.m. with the 3,000 meter steeplechase, followed by the 4x100 meter relay and 1,500 meter run. The 100 and 110 meter hurdles are up next, with the 400, 100, 800, 400 hurdles, 200 and 5,000 following, leading up the 4x400 meter relay to close out the afternoon.
