FORT WORTH – After getting rained out last week at the Missouri Southern Stampede, A&M-Commerce made the short drive to Fort Worth for the Texas Wesleyan Ram Rumble and made the most of the trip, placing first in the team standings while having six runners finish among the top-12 individually.
Sophomore Isaac Chelimo was the top Lion finisher for the second meet in a row, placing third with a time of 26:38. He was joined in the top-five by fellow sophomore Everett Wilder, checking in with a time of 26:53, one second better than sixth-place Fredrick Kipsang (26:54).
Three other A&M-Commerce runners placed among the top-12 as Raymond Mata placed 10th (27:12), Alex Kimp finished 11th (27:14) and Ross Hicks checking in at 12th (27:19). The remaining three runners for the Lions all finished among the top-20 as Tyler Hemenway placed 16th (28:35), David Najera finished 19th (29:39) and Donald Rightenour placed 20th (29:47) overall.
Up next for A&M-Commerce is a trip to Stillwater, Okla., competing in the always challenging Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday, Oct. 1.
