McIntyre Scores 30 in Lions' 84-78 Win Over Cameron
Junior Mattilyn McIntyre scored a game-high 30 points to lead the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's basketball team to an 84-78 win over Cameron on Saturday afternoon at the A&M-Commerce Field House.
A&M-Commerce (4-10, 1-1 LSC North) found itself behind by nine, 74-65, with 6:31 left in the game. The Lions went on a 16-0 run over the next five minutes to take an 81-74 lead. McIntyre made three of four free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
In addition to the 30 points from McIntyre, the Lions' sophomore Tiffany Mitchell had her second double double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds and junior Genevieve Campbell added 10 points.
Cameron (4-11, 0-2 LSC North) hit
11 three pointers and had three players in double figures as Lyn
Rattler and Josie Stewart each scored 21 and Alexis Williams added
16.
The Aggies led for the entire opening half until A&M-Commerce
took its first lead 43 seconds into the second half when junior
Nikki Garner made a lay up. The game remained
close and after the 10th tie of the game at 62, Cameron
went on a 12-3 spurt when Stewart made her fourth 3 pointer of the
afternoon.
With a nine-point deficit, A&M-Commerce managed to score 19 of the final 23 points to end a six-game losing streak. Leading the Lions down the stretch was McIntyre had eight of the 19 points.
