Lions Fall to LSC North Division Leader Northeastern State, 67-49

Northeastern State maintained its spot at the top of the Lone Star Conference North Division as they built a 24-4 lead to start the game en route to a 67-49 win over Texas A&M University-Commerce on Wednesday night in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

The RiverHawks (17-5, 6-1 LSC North) spread the scoring among eight players as Jasmine Webb scored a team-high 16 in the win. Kendra Dean joined her in double figures with 13.

A&M-Commerce (4-15, 1-6 LSC North) tandem of juniors Genevieve Campbell and Mattilyn McIntyre scored 17 and 16 points, respectively to lead the Lions. Senior Ashley Murphy had a game-high 10 rebounds.

After building an early 20-point lead, the RiverHawks shot at a 42.9% clip in the first half for a 33-16 halftime lead.

Northeastern State built the advantage to 31, 53-22 with 13:31 left in the game, the Lions came back to score the 13 of the next 15 points to cut the deficit down to 18.

A&M-Commerce reduced the deficit to as little as 15 in the final 20 minutes. In the process, the Lions shot 41.4% from the field and made five 3 pointers in the second half.

Next, the two teams will face each other again on Saturday at 2 p.m. at The Field House.
